BIOGRAPHY

Philip Richards Jr. is one of the most iconic filmmakers in the British Virgin Islands. He has produced, directed, filmed, and edited music videos, commercials, and corporate projects for major artists and top brands in the BVI. His work extends globally, including a brief collaboration with Below Deck during its time in the territory, as well as various international filmmaking ventures.

With decades of filmmaking expertise, Philip was recruited to transform an empty basement into 284 Media, a subsidiary of CCT BVI. In just three years, he built it into the leading broadcast network, surpassing long-established media houses.
In today’s digital age, where information is abundant yet often lost in a sea of noise and misinformation, Philip understands the challenges filmmakers face. As a self-taught filmmaker, he once struggled to find clarity in the chaos. This experience led him to create Island Filmmaker, a platform that simplifies filmmaking education, offering insightful and practical guidance for independent creatives. His mission is to cut through the clutter and equip solo filmmakers with the tools and knowledge needed to leverage the narrative.

Beyond education, Philip recognizes a deeper issue: despite the rise of digital media, only about 10% of people actively produce content. This gap highlights the need for platforms like Island Filmmaker, which not only educate but also offer hands-on, done-for-you solutions for those lacking the resources or expertise to bring their ideas to life. His goal is to empower businesses, brands, and aspiring creators, helping them to also thrive in an increasingly digital economy.
